It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these blog entries, and this is my first one here on the new site so… Congrats to me? Heh heh!
It’s been an amazing year for my flight training. I finished my Night rating, got my multi-engine rating, and even finished most of my flight and instrument hours! Overall, not a bad year, eh? I’ve had my share of issues too. Besides the horrible weather during the winter months (expected here in the Snowbelt of Ontario), I am also at the mercy of Transport Canada and their horrible ability to get paperwork done post-COVID. I did my Class 1 aviation medical back in August of 2022 with a perfect bill of health, and here in February 2023, I still have not received my medical, therefore I cannot take my flight test, nor do my Multi-IFR rating. Super frustrating as it seems that the issue is even worse for when I DO get me licence, they will possibly take another half year to get me the updated documents so I can get a flight job. You can read the article here on Canadian Aviator yourself, but it felt good to know I am not alone with my fight against Transport Canada, but alas, SUPER frustrating when I have been working at this for years and the only thing stopping me is government bureaucracy. I have written my MP, the transport minister and even the PM about this. None have replied so far at the time of writing this, but of course, Transport Canada has ignored my multiple contact attempts over this past half-year, so my hope of something actually getting done is not too high. Here’s hoping I can get everything done for the spring so I can get a job easier. They say the pilot shortage is worse than ever, I hope this is true for my sake and getting a starting job! Happy landings, and here’s hoping I get back in the air soon! to edit.
